This painting by Dionís shows his beloved Pollença. He lived here almost his entire life (1904–1967), except for a short time as a young soldier in the Rif War.

The image captures the beautiful surroundings of the town, with the mighty Puig de Tomir mountain rising in the background (over 1,100 metres high!) and the famous Calvari steps climbing the hill. We won’t tell you how many steps there are!

During his lifetime, Dionís saw Pollença change dramatically — from a quiet rural town with horse and carts to a fast-emerging international tourist destination. Yet through all these changes, he spent his whole life painting and celebrating the timeless natural beauty that still surrounds us today.
