This painting of Cala Murta by Dionís shows the dramatic pine trees he loved so much — the noble giants that grow among the countryside and coast of Pollença.

Pines are tough survivors. They grow in rocky soil, resist strong sea winds, and give shelter to birds and animals all across northern Mallorca. Dionís celebrated them with every colour of the rainbow — you will never see a plain brown pine in his paintings!

Look and discover! Next time you go for a walk near Pollença, look closely at the pine trees. How many different colours and tones can you spot in their leaves and bark? Green, blue, yellow, orange… Dionís saw them all!
